These terms govern the use of the app SpoolState. The provider is Hendrik Sachs (Legal Notice). You agree to them when you select “Use cloud storage” or “Use local storage” in the app.

1. What SpoolState is

SpoolState manages stock of 3D printing filament: spools, remaining amounts, locations, consumption. The app is developed as a private beta project and provided free of charge. There is no advertising, no in-app purchases and no paid additional features.

2. Use without an account

SpoolState can be used entirely without an account. The stock is then held solely on the device. In that case these terms apply accordingly, in so far as they do not relate to an account.

3. Account

An account is only necessary if you want to back up your stock in the cloud or share it between devices.
When registering, give an email address that you have access to. Password resets run through it — if the address was entered incorrectly, nobody can help you.
Keep your password secret and report suspected misuse. You will not be held responsible for activity that is not attributable to you.
You can delete your account yourself at any time: Settings → Account → Delete account. This also erases all associated data (see Privacy Policy).

4. Your content

The data you enter into SpoolState — spools, notes, locations, project names — remains your content. It is not sold, analysed for advertising or used for unrelated purposes. Necessary service providers and optional online services are used to provide the app as described in the Privacy Policy.

You warrant that you will not enter any unlawful content and that you will not use the app to infringe the rights of third parties or to disrupt its operation (for example through automated bulk access).

5. Availability

SpoolState is a spare-time project. I do not warrant any particular availability. The service may be changed, restricted or discontinued at any time.

Should cloud operation come to an end, the following applies: the app remains usable without an account, and you can back up your entire stock at any time via Settings → Data → Export. Do this regularly. An export is the only backup that nobody can take away from you.

6. Warranty

SpoolState is provided free of charge as a beta version and without a guarantee of any particular characteristic or uninterrupted availability. Mandatory statutory warranty rights, especially in relation to defects fraudulently concealed, remain unaffected.

7. Liability

I am liable without limitation in cases of intent and gross negligence, for damage arising from injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz).

In the event of a slightly negligent breach of an essential contractual obligation, liability is limited to the foreseeable loss typical for this type of contract. Essential contractual obligations are those whose performance makes proper use possible in the first place and on whose performance you may regularly rely. In all other cases, liability for slight negligence is excluded to the extent permitted by law.

Remaining amounts, drying recommendations and costs are calculated aids and are not calibrated measurement or safety results. Reasonable backups of your own may be taken into account when assessing recoverable data loss; mandatory claims remain unaffected.

8. Third-party information

SpoolState ships with a filament catalogue (source: SpoolmanDB, MIT License) and can retrieve spool data from prusament.com on request. This information does not come from me. It consists of suggestions that you can check and change — I do not vouch for its accuracy.

9. Changes to these terms

I may change these terms for the future where there is an objective reason, such as a change in law, security requirements or new features. I will inform you before changes take effect in the app or, for accounts, by email.

Changes that materially alter the contractual relationship to your disadvantage require your express consent. Silence or merely continuing to use the app does not constitute such consent. If you do not consent, you can stop using the app, export your data beforehand and delete your account. Purely editorial changes or changes that exclusively benefit you may take effect without renewed consent.

10. Termination

You can end your use at any time by deleting your account and uninstalling the app. I may suspend or delete an account after appropriate consideration if it materially or repeatedly breaches section 4. Unless immediate action is required to protect the service or others, you will first be warned and given an opportunity to remedy the breach and export your data.

11. Consumer dispute resolution

I am neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

12. Final provisions

German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the state in which you are resident remain unaffected. If a provision is invalid, the remaining provisions remain effective.
